Why Radio?
Radio is a proven advertising medium and despite what you might think more people are listening to the radio now than at any time over the past four years.

Radio is intimate: It talks to people like a friend and we're closer than most stations, so our listeners trust us and our sales messages. Who would you trust to recommend a place to go a friend or some stranger?

Radio is frequent: people hear your messages and take them on board, to the point that they know your advert as well as you do

Radio is cost-effective: Pound for pound radio represents better value, especially when it's combined with activity in other media.

Audience Size
Our potential audience is huge, according recent station reserach there are 21,937 people in our broadcast area between 16 and 24 years of age. This is in addition to just over 19,000 students enrolled at the University of Sunderland (of which about half are full-time on campus) and a further 19,000 students at the City of Sunderland College – a college with draws from students from the City and beyond. This suggests a potential audience of between 30,000 and 45,000 people.

Why now?
Students tend to be loyal to the bars and services they use during their first few months. Get people in now and they come back and when they come back they bring their friends. Utopia will also be going full time in 2009 making this the ideal time to get involved.
